About the course
The course is adapted to you but is based on this:
• Breastfeeding from a cultural and a biological perspective.
• The Golden Hour - the very first breastfeeding and Doulan role.
• If the mother and the child are separated.
• Breastfeeding after different kinds of births.
• How the birth experience affects breastfeeding.
• How your mother's/ grandmother's/ grandmother's breastfeeding experience affects your own.
• confidence in their body and the relationship with breastfeeding.
• The basics of working breastfeeding.
• Official guidelines on breastfeeding.
• Giving advice and support on breastfeeding- do 'and dont's.
• Common non-evidence-based advice that parents receive from healthcare/ family/ friends.
• Prepare parents for the first time of breastfeeding, common thoughts and anxiety.
• Common breastfeeding problems and how you as a doula can help.
• Equality and partner's role.
• Support when someone doesn't want to breastfeed.
• Mental illness and breastfeeding.
• Food and drink during the breastfeeding period.
• Your own breastfeeding experience and your ideas about breastfeeding.
• Where do you refer further and when is more help needed?
